چکیده

The city of Banda Aceh is an area located between two active faults, namely, the segment and Seulimuem fault. In 2004, earthquake measuring 9.3 on Richter Scale rocked Aceh, followed by a tsunami Burma Plate. As result, almost all school buildings were damaged. This study aims to determine vulnerability in City hazards from capacity building structure, so that level damage obtained developed fragility curve. object this research typical three-story reinforced concrete building, namely private Budi Dharma national SD Negeri 50 City. was conducted means field survey collect data structure building. consists data, material quality dimensions. Then loadings are inputted into SAP2000 program form dead loads, live loads consisting USGS recording estimated map Indonesian earthquake, 2017. pushover analysis used get curve see probability percentage comparison. addition, large value Sa equal as which influenced established before December 26, 2004. We concluded greater height inundation light, medium, heavy total damage, at 50, deviation floors load.

Earthquake Resistant Design of Reinforced Concrete Buildings

This paper briefly reviews the development of earthquake resistant design of buildings. The state-of-the-art of seismic design is discussed from the viewpoint of the performance criteria of buildings. These are (a) serviceability from frequent minor-intensity earthquake motions, (b) repairability from an infrequent but major-intensity earthquake motion, and (c) life safety from the maximum poss...

quantitative assessment of vulnerability of reinforced concrete buildings in urmia

according to non-existence of accurate inspection tools on various steps of design and construction of buildings in the past, also due to any change in function of some structures and finally of seismic activities of residential regions of the country, vulnerability assessment of existing structures is necessary. evaluation of vulnerability of the structures is classified in two categories, qua...

Earthquake Pounding Effect on Adjacent Reinforced Concrete Buildings

During earthquakes, pounding of adjacent buildings occurs due to their different dynamic characteristics as well as insufficient separation distance between them. Although earthquake loading is commonly considered in structural design, pounding of adjacent buildings is not usually considered and usually causes highly unexpected damages and failures. Pounding effect was numerically investigated ...

Preventing Pancake Collapses: Lessons from Earthquake-Resistant Traditional Construction for Modern Buildings of Reinforced Concrete

It seems counter-intuitive to assert that simple, unsophisticated, non-engineered, timber and masonry structures might be safer in large earthquakes than new structures of reinforced concrete, but such has proven to be the case in a number of recent earthquakes, including the Izmit and Düzce earthquakes in Turkey of 1999, the Bhuj earthquake in India of 2001, and the Kashmir earthquake in Pakis...

Evaluation of Seismic Vulnerability of Reinforced Concrete Buildings Adjacent to the Deep Excavations

In this study, the effect of deep excavation on the seismic response of RC moment resisting building systems has been studied. Deep excavation can cause significant changes in the stress and strain levels of soil environment and also changes in the propagation of seismic waves. This leads to permanent displacements in the foundation system. In this study, three RC building systems, i.e. 5, 10, ...
